Default Lower drop rate of gems from HM dungeon chests

Nothing makes me want to smash my head on my keyboard more than when I've spent an hour or more doing a HM dungeon just to be rewarded with a double gem drop. If it were to happen rarely, then that would be understandable, but today while farming Raven's Point with a few friends, 5/10 of my HM dungeon chest drops were gems. This is something that happens all too often. And I wasn't the only one getting Onyx and Diamonds back to back.

Now I'm not saying increase the drop rate of rare weapons, just that myself and I'm sure others, would prefer a random gold weapon over a gem any day.

most people already have their destroyer weapons anyway, so gems are mostly worthless (unless Anet adds something in their next 'content' update)

in the whole 4 nearly 5 years ive played gw ive never had a drop worth much more than 100k..and probably never will but when i spend an hour or two doing a dungeon and i get double diamonds..i feel like smashing my face into my keyboard. i make less than i spend on cons and morale boosts for the run. srsly we dont need anymore of them their cheep enough from the trader. id like random gold plz.

There is certainly a randome element to GW that can be a head scratcher at times. I've been on HM dungeon runs where I'm getting all purple drops from chests while everyone else is getting elite tomes and gold weapons. I have also been on a run where in the first 5 minutes I've had 4 gold drops from monsters alone and everyone in the party is asking me if I'm doing anything special that would warrant a high gold drop rate. As far as I know it's all completely random. However, I saw 4 Oola's Staffs drop in a single run with one guy getting a double drop! You'd think a lore element of the game would have only 1 drop in any particular group, but I guess Oola has plenty of staffs.

Gem drops from a Dungeon End chest should be 2-4 in NM and 3-6 in HM and ofc , only ONE gem per drop slot ( HM has 2 ). Anyway , those drops need some rework and this suggestion is one of many ..... that i dont think are going to happen. If its worth something , /signed.

For several reasons. First, not everyone has lots of money and all their destroyer weapons already. Those people may very well be farming dungeons hoping to get double gems, or at least the single. I know when I was working on filling my HoM I was happy to get a double gem drop. Second, the only reason the gems are cheap at the traders is because there are a lot of them. People who use them for making destroyer weapons enjoy this fact, and reducing the amount being found will raise the cost of them. Third, dungeon rewards are not there to make people money. Although not directly, this idea seems to be asking Anet to raise the minimum wage for working at McDonalds. "Gems are cheap, so I don't want to get so many" is basically what I hear, and although not asking for rare golds in exchange, that is exactly what will drop (or tomes). Lastly, the only reason I see you asking for this change is because you want more profit from doing dungeons. Dungeons are not there to provide profit. They do provide some monitary rewards for sure, but the point of them is to have fun, work on the titles, and tell the game's story.

Gems cost 250-300g at the trader. You only need 10 Onyx and 10 diamonds to make a destroyer weapon. It is faster to just buy gems from the trader.

By reducing the drop rate of these gems, the price of the gems and the destroyer weapons will go up. So for people who sell these weapons, it would be beneficial.

No, its not about the money being made. Atleast with a random gold, that is a point to my Wisdom Title, and possible upgrades for my weapons that I won't have to buy. But with a gem, the only thing to do with it is sell it to the trader if you don't want a destroyer weapon.

Also, you do realize I am talking about the end chest? As far as I know, tomes do not drop from those.

[name withheld] makes me sad always so negative. Yes dungeons are there for fun. But for many people that is a way to earn money, and to do 5 dungeons a day and get 4 diamonds 5 onyx and one blazing wing wand is not fun. It is sad.

I have crafted all destroyer weapons. So now I sit with 162 diamonds, 159 onyx. It's sad to sell them, because they are worth nothing, yet you spend an hour or 2 obtaining them. So i agree, either drop the droprate or give us new craftable items using these.

1. If it takes you 2 hours to do any dungeon in gw your doing something very wrong. Plus, you are playing a video game. Your wasting your time already by playing. Just an fyi

2. Gems do have a place in the hom destroyer weapons. Therefore it is very viable for the gems.

/singed im tired of going to pay for dungeons(don't have the permas already set up to run them and im not gonan set one up only to get nerfed in a month) and then getting some diamonds of gems for the 10k i paid.

It is really disheartening to fight a whole dungeon and not get even a single Gold... they should drop 1 Gold guaranteed.

While WAY back then when EotN came out this could be true, nowadays no one in their right mind would do a dungeon expecting a Gem drop, simply because they can be purchased for like 200g on the Rare Mat Trader - yes they dropped too much over time, the weapons are not good looking enough to make players pursue them and increase Gem demand (compared to Torment weapons, for example), etc.

Even if you support Gems drops, fine, make them a fixed drop from chests, but make sure they are not the ONLY thing that drop at a time - a Gold unid or should be a guaratee of drop besides the Gems...

I currently have 2 stacks of diamonds and onyx. This is from all the dungeon runs on all my characters and includes VSF runs. I have not crafted a single d-weapon yet. It's true that the gem drop is retardedly higher than golds, and this needs fixing, ESPECIALLY for long MASTER dungeons which MUST guarantee GOLD drops, rare or not.

The drops are so horrible thanks to those dumb double gem drops that most people don't even want to dungeons with speed clears. I can't imagine how much more horrible the dungeon drop experience will get once SF and 600/Smite gets nerfed.

Chest drops are awful in general. I don't see much difference between some dumb material and dumb weapons. Buy what you want.
